Monday: The Boys and Girls Club provides more than just a place to be for many of our students.  The club offers character and leadership programs, teaches health and life skills, provides Arts programs, tutoring and opportunities for sports and fitness.  The Boys and Girls Club of Washington County serve 311 children daily at seven locations.

Tuesday: Casa Guadalupe Education Center works to empower low-income, native-born and Spanish-speaking Latino families to live independent, successful lives, to build strong families and establish meaningful connections within their community. They provide literacy programs for our kids, like Read to Succeed, which gives our students help with homework and encourages reading skills.  Casa also directly helps our high schoolers with their Dream to Succeed initiative.  This program helps students identify multiple career opportunities, set educational goals, learn interview and resume writing, and identify sources of financial support for college. They also provide a summer reading program and summer Spanish camp for kids.

Wednesday: The Youth and Family Project, Inc. strives to support its mission through a basic, yet essential philosophy: Meeting People Where They Are, Greeting Them with Hope.  They offer a variety of programs that assist our students like the Crossroad Runaway Program, which provides free, short-term counseling to youth in crisis and their families before a youth feels compelled to solve the crisis by taking flight from home.   Another program offered is Healthy Families that provides home support, education, and mentoring services to pregnant families and parents of newborns. Most likely their best known program is Gingerbread House, which provides holiday support to many Washington County families who would otherwise have none.

Thursday: The Family Promise mission is to help homeless and low-income families regain their housing, their independence, and their dignity.  The overall goal and purpose of Family Promise is to provide children and their families as well as single women with shelter, basic needs and assistance as they seek permanent housing. Family Promise is unique in that it does not split up families during their crises.

Friday: Project Welcome Home Troops started as a combat-induced PTSD relief program.  The Power Breath Meditation Workshop, as seen in the film Almost Sunrise, offers practical breath-based tools to decrease stress, anxiety and sleep problems. The success of this program has been studied and is supported by University of Wisconsin-Madison. Its story has been featured on major national news like ABC and CBS.  If you are interested in more information here is a news report out of Madison: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYYYBA7HdSM
