  • Tonight is Youth Night at the East versus West high school softball games. Varsity starts at 4:30 and JV plays at 6 at the softball diamond. Enjoy a root beer float and prizes!
  • Everyone is invited to the Hub Coffee Shop tonight for the opening of the district art show. Come see amazing art and celebrate the hard work of hundreds of our Badger students. There will be food trucks!

  • Last week a group of math students went to the University of Oshkosh to compete. The students had an individual math section and a team section. Saanvi Tripathi scored in the top 10% on the individual section - way to go Saanvi!
  • Congrats to our very own Mrs. Jackson on earning the prestigious Rolfs Education Award!
  • Congrats to Mrs. Sternig for winning a shout-out prize. Staff members - stop by the shout-out table in the Main Office to send shout-outs and kind messages to each other.
  • Tuesday's gift card from PTO goes to Maverick - one of our outstanding custodians!
  • Attention current 8th graders - the East Dance team will be holding tryouts for the 2024-2025 season next week, May 13-16th. If you are interested in trying out for the team and need more information, please see Ms. Zancanaro in room 131!
  • Lights, camera, action! It is not too late to grab an audition form for this year's talent show. It is called Badgers Belong on Stage.   • Student Council members - please report to the gym 8th hour today to decorate for the dance.

Tonight is the Flamingo Formal! Badger's spring dance is finally here and we are looking forward to a fun night of dancing, pictures, and time with friends. A few reminders about tonight's dance:

  • The dance takes place in the gym from 5:30-7:30. Students may enter the dance at the doors closest to the gym on Main Street.
  • Students MUST present their Badger ID with the flamingo dance stick to enter the dance.
  • Glow sticks will be sold for $1 each.
  • Students must remain in the gym or gym lobby - popcorn and water will be provided.
  • There is ZERO re-entry to the dance. If you leave the building, you are not allowed back in.
  • Students suspended or absent the day of the dance are not allowed to attend.
  • Behavior expectations are the same as all school events: respectful, responsible, safe, and ready to have fun!

  • FCA sweatshirts and t-shirts are are ready to order! You can pick up an order form from Mrs. Cramer in room 208 or Mr. Hoogester in room 212 for some FCA swag. Orders are due this Friday!
  • Have you decided on what talent you're going to show off for this year's talent show? Pick up an audition form from the counseling office today to get your audition spot. Auditions start tonight and continue next Thursday after school. Please report tot he choir room after school if you are on the talent show committee or auditioning today.
  • May is Dandy-Walker Malformation Awareness month. This birth defect of the brain affects 1 in 25,000-35,000 people in the United States. Up to 90% of people with this condition will experience hydrocephalus, or too much liquid on the brain. However, with the right supports, most children with Dandy-Walker Syndrome can live to adulthood, and some can even have a normal lifespan. The awareness ribbon for Dandy-Walker and hydrocephalus is blue, so feel free to break out the blue ribbons and show some awareness this month!

  • Badger, we are just 1 day away from our first day of auditions for the talent show! Please drop off your form in the counseling office and pick a time slot. It is your chance to end the school year with a memory to last a lifetime. If you need more time, there are also audition spots for next Thursday, May 9th.

  • Happy Deaf History Month! Ludwig van Beethoven is a famous composer from Germany who started his rise to fame in the late 1700’s. He had a progressive hearing loss, meaning that he was born hearing, but gradually became deaf. He wrote his very famous Symphony No. 9 without hearing any part of it! Listen to it online and imagine never composing it without ever hearing a note of it!
  • The Flamingo Formal spring dance is this Friday! Tickets may be purchased at lunch for $5. Students must have their school ID to purchase a ticket and enter the dance.
  • Friday's Chess Club is canceled due to the spring dance.

  • Happy Deaf History Month! Hurt Go Happy by Ginny Rorby is a story of a deaf girl who struggles to understand her family and friends. Her life changes when she meets a neighbor and his unlikely pet, a rescued chimpanzee who can communicate using sign language. Check it out at the library!

This week's Staff of the Week was nominated because he consistently goes above and beyond the call of duty to ensure that our school environment is clean, safe, and welcoming for both students and staff.   • Happy Deaf History Month! You may have heard that Helen Keller flew an airplane. It’s true! When she was a passenger on a small airplane in Europe, Helen flew the plane once it was in the air from the seat of the co-pilot. Her interpreter signed the pilots’ instructions into Helen’s hands and she flew while they cruised in the sky.

  • Happy Deaf History Month! Helen Keller had a teacher named Anne Sullivan who worked very hard to teach Helen language using “tactile sign language.” Tactile sign language is when a person uses sign language while a deafblind person gently places their hands on top of the person’s signing hands. This type of sign language is still used today.

  • Happy Deaf History Month! A person is considered to be “deafblind” when they have any amount of vision and hearing loss. The most famous deafblind person is Helen Keller. Helen Keller lost her hearing and vision after an illness when she was 19 months old. She became an author and someone who fought for the rights of people with disabilities.

  • Happy Deaf History Month! Yesterday you learned about Gallaudet University, a college created for Deaf people. The football huddle was actually started in 1892 by quarterback at Gallaudet University named Paul Hubbard, who didn't want opposing teams to see his team's signs. Watch for the huddle next time you watch a football game!
  • Keep earning those stamps, Badger! This month's Badger Pride raffle prize is a 32" Amazon Fire TV! Your last chance to enter the raffle will be this week Wednesday during lunch at the Badger Pride Store. Made sure your Badger Pride cards have your first and last names on them

  • Happy Deaf History Month! Did you know that there's a university that was specifically created for Deaf people? Gallaudet University in Washington D.C was created after an act of congress signed by Abraham Lincoln in 1864. It still exists today, and you don't have to be deaf or hard of hearing to attend!
  • We are excited to announce that our school talent show is officially set for June 3 and 4. Would you like to audition for the show? Auditions will be held on May 2 and 9th after school. Stop by the Counseling Office or ask your resource teacher today for an audition form!
  • THIS WEEK! Come and join FCA in room 208 after school on Wednesday, April 24. East High School wrestling coach Shane Pionkowski will be here to speak to us.

  • Happy Deaf History Month! Did you know that one of Marvel's superheroes is Deaf? The character's name is Makkari, and in the movie Eternals is played by Deaf actress Lauren Ridloff. Lauren is also in the movie based on the book Wonderstruck which also features a Deaf character!
  • Do you have a talent you'd like to share on stage? We all know Badgers Belong on Stage! Our annual talent show will be accepting auditions on May 2 and May 9th after school. Come pick up an audition form from the counseling office or your resource teacher.
  • 3 more spring clubs kick off this afternoon. Jewelry Club will bead and design beauty in room 147, Spring Wrestling will meet in room 223, and Chess Club can be found in the cafeteria!

  • Happy Deaf History Month! Yesterday, you learned about hearing aids. Check out the book Harriet Versus the Galaxy by Samantha Baines which is about a girl who looks for her hearing aid under the bed, but finds an alien.
  • Are you ready for the Thursday spring clubs? Tonight we have Open Art Studio meeting in the art rooms, Talent Show Behind the Scenes in the 1st floor MAC, and Hobby Knights meeting in front of the library doors. If you are in Hobby Knight Club, remember that you will need to be picked up from Hobby Knights at 4:30pm and there is no late bus available to take you home. Finally, the Walking Club will NOT meet tonight, but will start next Thursday instead. Have a fun time!

  • More Spring Clubs are starting today! Clay Club in room 147, Creative Writing in room 205, Minecraft Club in room 150. Fishing and Mafia Club will meet next Wednesday!
  • Happy Deaf History Month! Hearing aids help people hear. Sometimes hearing aids are very small so other people don’t even know they’re there. Other times, they are bright colors with sparkles. Some hearing aids connect with bluetooth to phones so people can listen to music from their phones directly into their hearing aids!

  • Spring Clubs have finally arrived! After school we are kicking off with Crafts in room 205, Crochet in room 213, Food Artists in room 120, and Sheepshead in room 223. If you are unsure if you are enrolled in a specific club, please check with Mrs. Kramer or Mrs. Jackson.
  • April is Deaf History Month! For the rest of this month, listen to announcements for interesting information about Deaf/Hard of Hearing people, culture, and books featuring deaf/hard of hearing characters. Today's interesting fact is that sign language is different from country to country. In the United States, people use American Sign Language or ASL. However, ASL is not most closely related to English, it's actually closer to French!

  • Are you interested in helping out community members? Are you interested in making a silent, but helpful impact? Do you want to enter a raffle? Well you can - the Badger Business Leadership Class will be holding a donation drive to collect items for Family Promise next week, April 15-19. Items for collection include: soap, shampoo, tissues, paper towels, school or office supplies, floor cleaner, and other basic items. Students can drop off items in front of the cafeteria before school. We hope you're able to contribute!

  • Attention all athletes interested in track: Practice begins Monday, April 8th at 3:30 in the gym. Remember that all athletes need to be registered on FamilyID with an uploaded physical. Any athlete who is not registered or doesn't have an uploaded physical will not be allowed to participate. For any questions, see Mr. Hoogester in room 212.

  • Badger 7th grade Gold swept Blue Tuesday in their last match of the season. Kaylee Thibodeau and Grace Tyvela represented as captains, leading the team to victory. Simone Manns, Kaylee Thibodeau, and Allie Warczak earned the final nickels of the season. Once again, Morgan Doede had incredible digs and dives which added to the scoring frenzy. Hayley Buschke left her comfort zone and had 2 fierce attachs at the net. The Golden Ladies had a fantastic, successful season and celebrated Wednesday at a team banquet.

  • The 8th Grade Badger Gold team swept Badger Blue once again last night at the last game of the season winning all three matches.  Saanvi Tripathi ended her season by finally earning the elusive nickel.  Libby Minshall encouraged her teammates and kept the energy going as she led the team to a victory with several outstanding returns.  Stephanie Schwan came close to earning a nickel three different times with one point short each round.  However, she didn't let that slow her down.  She still earned a whopping 18 points for her team! Layah Barnes was on fire at the end of the game with some killer serves! Clara Petersen and Stevonna Shaw had great effort and supported the team with everything they had. Thanks again to Grace Tyvela for stepping up and joining our team at the last second!  Excellent end to the season Gold!  Ms. Tortomasi is extremely proud of you!

  • This week Wednesday, March 20th after school from 3:15 to 4:15 in room 208 we will gather and listen to Talia as she comes to talk to us about sharing our faith. FCA invites you all to join us as we play a game, have snacks, and listen to the speaker. Can’t wait to see you guys there!
  • Badger Staff is ready to dodge, duck, dip, dive, and dodge this Friday! Are you and your friends ready for dodgeball? Bring your 5 Badger Pride cards to resource on Weds, March 20th to sign up for the student vs staff tournament.
  • This past weekend, Badger competed against close to 70 other schools across the state of Wisconsin in the State Forensics Meet! Over half of the Badger students who participated earned scores or rankings that were the highest for their season. Congrats for making it to the Power Round goes to Emmeline in Storytelling, Norah in Moments in History, and Allison & Muriah in Group Acting! Making it to the Power Round and earning third place: Liz in Demonstration, Lauren & Emerson in Infomercial, and Maddie in Non-Original. Coming in second place: Melina & Alexis in Group Interpretation. In first place overall: Miller & Dario in Infomercial! With this part of the season over, let's get ready for regionals!

  • Congratulations to the Badger students who have their art showcased at the Washington County art show for youth art month!  Winners in the 2D art category include: Amandine Luzy-Hibernie with a 1st place win, Liz Lewandowski for Best in Show, Sophia Sherman with a 3rd place win and Haylee McCoy with an honorable mention. 

    Winners in the 3D art category include: Theo Torke, Best in Show, Lilliana Botsch with 3rd place win and Olivia Sutliff and Brooklyn Douglass received an honorable mention.

    ArtWork can be seen at the HUB through the end of March. Congratulations!

  • 8th grade Badger Gold played Thomas Jefferson last night in Port Washington. Despite the loss, team captain Libby Minshall absolutely dominated the court.  She was a true leader and led by example supporting and encouraging her teammates.  Stephanie Schwan also had a great game diving and bumping, oftentimes returning the ball to the opponent when they didn't see it coming!  Good effort Gold!  Come and cheer us on next week Tuesday for our last game of the season against Badger Blue!
  • 7th grade Gold volleyball was on fire last night! Savaya Ratliff was a fearless leader representing as team captain and leading the team into consecutive wins against Thomas Jefferson. Our team figured out their differences and came together to scrap, dig, and dive to earn points. Kaylee Thibodeau scored her first dime with serving which lifted the team to victory. Savaya brought in a nickel! The last home game is after school on Tuesday against Badger Blue!

  • HUGE shout out to the 8th Grade Badger Gold volleyball team for a SECOND sweep in a row last night against John Long.  Team Captain Saanvi Tripathi led her team to victory scoring 11 points all on her own. Clara Petersen earned herself another nickel of the season, while Stephanie Schwan earned a dime last night.  Layah Barnes and guest player Grace Tyvela dominated the court with hit after hit and Grace also scored yet another nickel.  Lastly, Libby Minshall absolutely demolished her opponents earning her first nickel of the season, but also diving and returning the ball time and time again. Way to go Gold!  Let's do it again tomorrow against Thomas Jefferson.
  • Badger Gold fell short against John Long MS last night. Simone Manns led her team as captain, displaying dedication to her sport and teammates. Grace Tyvela earned a nickel for her team and continued excellent serving while repping for the 7th and 8th grade Gold teams. Morgan Doede made amazing digs and saves on the court. All ladies are improving and enjoying the season. Last home game is Tuesday the 19th against Badger Blue!

  • The 8th grade Badger Blue team had an amazing match last night defeating Slinger. Melany Hernandez, Rachal Letson, and Kaylie Hitz served tough, earning a nickel. Makennah Maxwell and Olivia Friday were tough at the net, while Sophia Olsen, Emiliana Santos, Maddie Ambriz-Miller, and Addilyn Wahlstrom played some awesome defense diving all over the court. A true team effort, congrats ladies!

  • The Badger Blue 7th grade team won yesterday in Whitefish Bay. Shout out to the entire team for playing so well together. Ragen Wolff took a risk and it paid off with her serves. Back at it tomorrow against Slinger!
  • Badger Gold 7th volleyball took on Slinger last night at home. Cali Blake represented as captain, showing unwavering determination and dedication. Even though gold didn't win all matches, the games were very close and had electrifying energy. Grace Tyvela and Alli Warczak earned nickels. The net attacks were on fire as Hayley Buschke and Alana Dilworth fearlessly defended the court with 3 successful attacks. Morgan Doede made amazing dig saves!
  • The 8th grade Badger Gold team SWEPT all three matches last night against Thomas Jefferson!!  Gold was on FIRE last night bumping, spiking, and diving for the ball. Team Captain Stephanie Schwan earned her first nickel of the season hitting serve after serve and racking up the points!  Guest player Grace Tyvela earned herself a dime and was in there every time to back her teammates up! Clara Petersen earned herself her first dime as well, while Libby Minshall had an outstanding game returning and spiking the ball ready to win!  Last, but certainly not least, Saanvi Tripathi had the game of the season!  She never lost sight of the ball making some miraculous returns that shocked the crowd.
  • Student Council is meeting today after school in Mrs. King's room, 205. We will continue planning the dance and preparing for the dodgeball game!

    Cost is $45 per player, practice 2 times per week at Kingpin Bowl. Practice and meets take place after school.

  • Shout out to the Badger Winter Guard team for going up against eight high school teams this past weekend and taking first place in the Scholastic Regional A High School Division at the Kinetic Winter Guard Competition! Way to go and congrats on this major achievement!

  • The 7th grade Blue volleyball team battled through 3 sets against the Gold team valiantly last night. The first 2 sets came down to extra points! Arieanna Abel made some great sliding plays to save points, and Analiah Hernandez Rios, Kyleigh Struck, and Dayana Nicolas Merino provided great serves to assist the team. The next game is on Tuesday at Whitefish Bay, go Blue!
  • Badger Gold was led into victory last night by Morgan Doede. She represented the team as captain, displaying positive sportsmanship by supporting her team not only in games, but practices as well. Grace Tyvela and Morgan brought in excellent serves, both earning nickels. The matches were close, and both teams played exceptionally well!
  • The 8th Grade Badger Gold team was on fire last night winning against Badger Blue!!  Team Captain Libby Minshall led her team to victory with her awesome leadership skills, while Clara Petersen earned another nickel last night. Layah Barnes also got her first nickel of the season!  She was on point with hit after hit! Saanvi Tripathi was also spot on with her serves scoring multiple points for the team.  Stephanie Schwan and Maddie Schmidt were fantastic teammates stepping in to spike or return the ball time and time again. Congratulations to Badger Gold for an outstanding game!  Your communication and attentiveness paid off!!
