Two schools in the West Bend School District achieved the highest rating possible in the 2018-2019 school report cards issued by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction on November 12, 2019—meaning that the schools greatly exceed state expectations for student achievement, student growth, educational equity, and preparing students for educational milestones.
Jackson Elementary earned an 88.1 accountability score, which translates to the highest rating of “significantly exceeds expectations” for the 2018-2019 school year. McLane Elementary earned an 87.9 accountability score, also gaining the “significantly exceeds expectations” rating.
The overall goal of Wisconsin’s accountability systems is to help identify areas of strength to build upon and deepen, as well as to pinpoint areas needing improvement so all students graduate from high school ready for their next step. The overall score of the district and school is based on a set of four priority areas, as well as student engagement indicators. The four priority areas are each scored on a 0-100 scale. The priority areas are:
Student Achievement
Growth
Closing Gaps
On Track and Postsecondary Readiness
New this year, the district, East, West, and Pathways report cards include the ACT Aspire assessment results as part of the Student Achievement and Growth priority areas.
Schools earning “exceeds expectations” ratings were Decorah Elementary, Fair Park Elementary, Green Tree Elementary, Silverbrook Intermediate, and Badger Middle. Both West Bend East and West High Schools achieved “meets expectations” accountability ratings. Overall accountability scores at Green Tree Elementary, Badger Middle, East High, and West High improved for the 2018-2019 school year.
The DPI also issued ratings to all school districts in the state. The West Bend School District’s overall accountability rating was “meets expectations.”
